When Barb McCarthy was a child, home meant any shabby apartment, abandoned car, or tattered tent her mother could muster up.

She's spent decades building a successful life she never believed possible. Now a fierce advocate for unhoused families, Barb is determined to honor her family's legacy with a tiny homes project in her California coastal town, despite the growing opposition. 

Mike Keller, a former cop turned private investigator, is living in the quiet aftermath of tragedy when he crosses paths with a stranger one fog-drenched night. Sleep-deprived and restless, she becomes part of a group of night owls with whom he shares his time on the coastal bluffs. To his surprise, and dismay, this woman is also spearheading the very housing project he must defeat.

With the clock ticking, failure is not an option for Barb. But her unwanted relationship with Mike will muddy the waters, forcing two guarded hearts to decide if each will protect what they've built or risk everything for another chance at something neither thought possible again--love.
